TRAP assists Bedfordshire Trading Standards in relation to seizures
of infringing music apparel.
July 2004
TRAP commences its "Calendar Offensive" in order to prevent
sale of infringing product.
Investigations lead to out of court settlement with retailer of unofficial
merchandise. Following test purchases and threat of legal action, settlement
is agreed.
June 2004
TRAP exhibit at the Trading Standards Institute conference hosted in
Manchester - intelligence shared with Trading Standards officers and
other attendees. Educational promotion commenced to bring greater awareness
to Trading Standards and other delegates of TRAP members and their
artists.
May 2004
TRAP takes delivery up of large quantities of infringing calendars
forfeited from retailers. Settlement reached after offenders complied
with TRAP requests. Significant seizures made of t-shirts, hoodies
and posters from live venues and open air concerts.
April 2004
Continuation of test purchases around the UK. New targets identified
and evidence gathered for future actions in relation to apparel and
posters. T-shirt retailer has case listed for Crown Court in relation
to criminal charges brought for trade mark infringement.
March 2004
Further retail raids made with Trading Standards in London's
West End. Trading Standards seize product and issue Home Office
Cautions for
first time offenders.
February 2004
TRAP surveillance team attends Spring Fair on evidence gathering
exercise.
January 2004
Following investigations and test purchases made on a retailer within
the Afflecks Palace building, Manchester, 185 units of counterfeit
merchandise were seized. The goods totalled an approximate retail
value of £2,200.00. TRAP’s crackdown on counterfeit goods will
see continued targets raided over the next few months.
November 2003
Trademarks and Rights Holders Against Piracy (TRAP) has continued
its anti counterfeiting action when assisting in a joint operation
with
Birmingham Trading Standards .TRAP has been formed to protect the
rights of legitimate merchandisers and the raid, which was carried
out in
the Hockley area of Birmingham, netted suspected counterfeit goods
to the value of £30,000.
July 2003
Following a raid earlier this month, further seizures have been made,
again within the City of Westminster. A conducted search of the premises
revealed 104 units of counterfeit goods.
TRAP representatives assisted Westminster Trading Standards raiding
Oxford Street premises. In total three hundred and forty-nine units
of merchandise was seized amounting to an approximate retail value
of £6000.00.
